Brief History of the Czech Sugar Industry

• First cane sugar refinery founded in Zbraslav Monastery near Prague

• First industrial sugar factory in Austria-Hungary founded in Kostelní Vydří

• Foundation of the oldest still-working sugar factory - TTD in Dobrovice

• The “founding fever”, 53 new sugar factories established
