Major Milestones


1831
  • The Princes of Thurn–Taxis set up a sugar factory in the Dobrovice Castle near Mladá Boleslav.
1923
  • The Thurn–Taxises sell out their Dobrovice sugar factory to the Česká akciová společnost.
1946
  • The sugar factory is nationalised under the “Beneš Decrees”.
1946 - 1989
  • Under the totalitarian Communist regime, the factory development is halted and it falls into disrepair.
1992
  • After the fall of the Communist regime, foreign investors purchase an interest in the Company – 48% of its shares are taken over by the French SDA/Tereos.
1992
  • The factory’s processing capacity is progressively increased to 14,000 mt of beet per day. The Dobrovice factory becomes the largest and most modern factory in Central and Eastern Europe.
2006
  • A distillery is built in Dobrovice for CZK 1.3bn. The first bioethanol-producing campaign starts in October 2006.
2008
  • Environment-friendly E85 fuel is launched on the market.
